The right setting depends on your privacy, schedule, access needs, preferences, and clinical needs. At Mindful Healing Counseling, you can meet in Clearwater, attend virtual sessions while in Florida, or alternate between both with the same therapist.
In-person therapy: a space outside your everyday routine
For some people, leaving home or work for an appointment helps create a clear boundary around therapy. An office offers a dedicated place for the conversation, without having to find privacy in a shared household. You may simply prefer being in the same room as your therapist.
Consider travel time, transportation, and any access needs. Our Clearwater office is at 1822 Drew Street, Suite 101, with parking in front and behind the building. Visits are by appointment. Call ahead if you have questions about getting into the building or what to expect when you arrive.
Online therapy: less travel, with preparation for privacy
Virtual appointments can reduce the time spent traveling to an office. The trade-off is that you need a setting where you can speak comfortably, a suitable device, and a reliable connection. Think about who might overhear and whether interruptions could make it difficult to focus.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends checking visit instructions, testing your technology, and choosing a quiet spot before a telehealth visit. Do not attend while driving. Ask the practice what to do if your connection drops.
Our virtual appointments are available when you are physically located in Florida. That applies to each session, including when you are traveling. For virtual couples appointments, both partners must be in Florida. Discuss travel plans with your therapist before scheduling.
Hybrid therapy: alternate settings with the same therapist
Hybrid care means using both in-person and virtual appointments over time. For example, you might prefer the office when your schedule allows and meet online during another week. You keep working with the same therapist while coordinating the setting for each visit.
Hybrid does not mean a single appointment automatically includes both formats. It also does not mean you can switch settings without checking with your therapist. Talk about what works clinically and practically, then agree on the format in advance.
Three ways to meet, at a glance
| Format | May suit you if… | Plan for |
|---|---|---|
| In person | You prefer a separate, dedicated space. | Travel to Clearwater and time for arrival. |
| Online | You have a private place and want to avoid travel. | A reliable connection and being in Florida. |
| Hybrid | You value both settings. | Coordinating each visit’s format with your therapist. |
No format is automatically the best choice for everyone. The NIMH guide to virtual mental health support discusses benefits and limitations. Your therapist can help you consider whether virtual care suits your needs.
Start with the setting you can use comfortably
Ask yourself: Where can I speak openly? What can I realistically fit into my week? What accommodations would help me participate? These questions can be more useful than trying to pick the “perfect” format before you have met your clinician.
Confirm fees and insurance coverage for the clinician and appointment type you choose. If this is your first visit, read what to expect at your first therapy appointment. Then explore our appointment options or meet the team to take your next step.
